Biblically Correct

I didn't watch the Miss USA pageant on Sunday evening. When I flipped on the TV this morning, I did hear Perez Hilton (celeb blogger extraordinaire) talking about it. He claims that Miss California cost herself the crown because of her answer to his question regarding same sex marriage. Here is her response...

During the show, Perez asked Carrie, "Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?"

"Well I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. Um, we live in a land that you can choose same sex marriage or opposite marriage and, you know what, in my country and in, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman," Carrie said to a mix of boos and applause. "No offense to anybody out there. But that's how I was raised and that's how I think that it should be between a man and a woman."

She was interviewed by Matt Lauer and did a fantastic job. She said that she made a choice to go with the Biblically correct answer, rather than the politically correct answer. She stood up for her beliefs and said she wouldn't change her answer if she was given the chance. It was refreshing to say the least.

Put the issue aside. I LOVED that she chose to give a REAL answer! Perez said she should have given a more PC and generic answer. Heaven forbid a woman be beautiful and have her own opinions and thoughts! Why even have a question and answer session if you want generic answers? I don't think anyone can say for certain whether it cost her the crown or not, but I'm sure it didn't help. I don't believe that a contestant in the Miss USA pageant has ever been BOOOED...so it couldn't have been good! But BRAVO Miss California for giving a real honest answer.

As for Perez Hilton calling Miss California a "stupid B****", it did nothing for my opinion of him.
